Who We are
Waterloo Wellington Buddhist Monastery and Meditation Center ( WWBMMC ) is a Sri Lankan Theravada Buddhist Monastery, serving Kitchener, Waterloo, Guelph, Cambridge, and surrounding areas. WWBMMC is a registered charity in Canada.
Some of the activities at the Monastery include Dhamma discussions, meditation programs, celebrations of important Buddhist events, Pirith chantings, offering Dana (almsgiving) to monks, monthly sil programs, and a Dhamma school for children.
Membership and activities of the monastery are available to anyone who is interested in Buddhism.
Our Vision
The vision of WWBMMC is to provide a place and forum for Buddhists and those interested in Buddhism to learn, understand, research, and practice Buddhism according to Sri Lankan Theravada traditions.
The objectives of WWBMMC are:
- To preach and advance the teachings of the Theravada Buddhist faith and the religious tenets, doctrines, observances, and culture associated with that faith.
- To establish, maintain, and support a house of worship with services conducted in accordance with the tenets and doctrines of the Theravada Buddhist faith.
- To support and maintain missions and missionaries in order to propagate the Theravada Buddhist faith.
- To establish and maintain a religious school of instruction for children, youth and adults
