Duruthu Poya is commemorated on the full moon day of January. On this Poya day, the Buddha visited Sri Lanka for the first time. He restored peace amongst the Yaksa tribe in Mahiyangana. During this visit, the Buddha bestowed sacred hair relics to God Sumana Saman.
