Venerable GigummaduweSuseelaThero was born in 1996 in his hometown Neluwa, Sri Lanka. He received his primary education in NeluwaMedegama Primary School and secondary education at Neluwa National School.
At the age of 12 he ordained as a junior monk and continued his monastic education at VidyodayaMahaPiriwena (Monastic College) Maradana and Vidya Nikethana Mulika Pirivena (Monastic College) –Gunasinghepura. He also took the Preliminary Examination of Pracheenain 2014 attached to The Oriental Studies Society of Sri Lanka, Ministry of Education.
During this period, he has gained necessary language skills to preach the Buddhist doctrine such as Pali, Sanskrit, Sinhala. Also, in depth knowledge in Buddhist Culture, Numerous philosophical schools of thoughtand Pali Canon.
Rev Suseela got ordained at Sithulpawwa in 2008, and was a resident monk at Mahabodhi AgrashrawakaMahaViharaya, Maradana from 2011 to 2014. Also, a resident monk at WimalagnanaViharaya, Homagama from 2014 to 2021. He got his higher ordination in 2018.
